Its seems that Flash is the ONLY Black nominee in White porn awards. The XRCO Awards is now the 3rd White porn awards in a row where Flash is the ONLY Black nominee. The good thing is that he's won 2 already and his profile has taken a massive boost. Let's hope he wins the 3rd and all subsequent littlywhite awards. Flash Brown has proven that winning awards DO make a difference to a Pornstars career. He's getting booked for scenes like crazy, his twitter follower count has spiked 1000+ more in the past 3 wks, even dodger bitches are chatting to him, (would it make them want to work with him in the near future?) who knows, but Flash seems to be on the dodgers radar.

Lex Steele won AVN performer of the year three times in four years (2000, 2002, 2003) and plenty of chicks namechecked him as well, but I don't know how many scenes came as a result of it.
Personally, I think dodgers are gonna dodge, until they think it is not in their best interest to do so and collect the IR paycheck.

Of course dodgers are getting into his face, just like they did with Lex back in the day. They smell future success and money, and quality male talent is scarce nowadays, regardless of skin-color! And of course you're correct, awards are a form of promotion, which raises fan awareness and support. This increased fan support often means increased revenue for both performer and studios that the performer works in. As long as Flash keeps a good attitude, plays the porn politics correctly, stays away from crack/meth, he will become one of the more successful male pornstars in many years. And I fully expect for him to keep the right attitude; he has earned a full University degree (no easy task,) played ball (sports require tremendous discipline) and he has extensively traveled and lived over-seas. The combination of those life-experiences are rare in porn, and they will enable him to withstand the extra-ordinary amount of racism that will be heaped upon him from "within" the American porn industry, here in 2011!

Lex said repeatedly that absolutely nothing changed after he won performer of the year. Most girls still wouldn't work with him, and he was getting turned down by chicks who hadn't even started working in the industry yet.

Considering that there seems to be even more pressure than there was a few years ago for female performers not to work with black men and the dwindling number of scenes shot featuring black male talent, I think that it's safe to say that this dude will still be shooting the majority of his scenes for BOB with the same old talent in spite of his recent "success" at these awards shows.

I really want to optimistic, but Rao and rex are right. Of course, Flash is never going to be treated the way the white guys are treated, and even sadder he probably won't get equal treatment to Keni Styles or Carlo Carrera even. It's only logical and realistic to have tempered expectations. If Flash just makes some crack in the glass ceiling and get a few more girls to work with him than the other black talent have then I guess that's something.

Nor do I. Sasha Grey and Tori Black are the most recent examples of how ridiculous the notion that having sex with a handful of black guys in between all of the other circus acts that these chicks engage in day in and day out on camera ruins their careers.

I meant that there is intense pressure from people within the industry not to work with black men. I've heard plenty of performers talk about being pressured by their agents, directors, studio owners or by other performers to hold off on IR until they can't get booked for anything else or to avoid it completely. Notice how often decent looking girls come into the industry willing to work with black guys and end up taking "IR" off of their modeling profiles within a few months. I suspect that even more are discouraged from doing it before they even start working. There's also the douchebag boyfriend/husband/suitcase pimp factor for a lot of these chicks, but that's another topic altogether.

All this means is that he will get plenty of work with the top " IR friendly" girls...nothing more, nothing less. This could send him to the Marcus, Lex or Sean level. Lex has an impressive track record when it comes to Awards but we all know he still gets dodged.
