Butterflies are free and so, apparently, is Internet porn, a California Appeals Court ruled Thursday. The complaint against Redtube.com -- a free video site, like YouTube -- was brought by a company that charges for its prurient material, Time.com reports.

According to plaintiff Kevin Cammarata, Redtube.com has caused "many millions of dollars of damages to proprietors of adult entertainment websites," and "had a massive negative impact on the business model of adult website proprietors."

The appeals court was unmoved, Time reports, dismissing the complaint as an unfair attack on free speech.

wow this is big. I'm a little mixed on this one. One the one side free porn (as nice as it is) means no dollars in the business. No dollars in the business means No top hoes.. On the other side sites like Red tube do not display the entirety of a websites content. You can get a full scene, in turn it should show you where you can get MORE of what you saw, but by then why bother? what does everyone else think?

While i think this is a huge first step for the porn file sharing community on the net, i really dont like the idea of the government/law getting involved in this issue at all. I rather it stay just where it's at, just two sides of the fence steady debating.

I like redtube and i like their content but if it means that it will hurt the production of porn, specifically the production of new IR porn, i wouldn't be mad if it and other sites like it went strictly to Amateur porn and older released porn that doesn't really sell anymore.

Porn companies shouldn't be mad or financially hurt over somebody that puts up an old scene of like lex and daniella rush or lex and cali cox for example that you probably couldn't even buy no more legitimately so who is it hurting? nobody

Either this or just fuck em, porn companies are rich as fuck anyway they gone be alright.

with all the free porn, people still pay for it and judging by a recent article saying that the porn industry is booming, the industry shouldnt worry much.

It's like they say, porn is the only business that is recession proof.

On spankwire, porn companies tell them when they have a scene up that they own and spankwire just deletes it. And nowadays they email you telling you that they deleted a scene that you uploaded for copyright infringement. Which cracks me up because there would be no spankwire if they took down all the copyrighted material.
