Do not play the victim anymore, it does not work in modern times!
Back in 2006, the television show 20/20 decided to do a little experiment. They drew up 22 pairs of identical job applications. The only thing they changed was the first name of the applicant. One would say "Emily Johnson" and the twin application would say "Ebony Johnson" everything else was the same between the twin applications. One would say "Justin Smith" and the other would say "DeShawn Smith". So they basically came up with two teams of applications: Emily, Justin, Molly, Holly, Heather, Todd, etc. Versus Ebony, DeShawn, Jerome, etc. Keep in mind now that these are all fictional applications and that there are absolutely no differences in qualifications--only first names. They sent these applications out to a wide variety of industries.
They found a marked difference in the way they were received. The Emily, Justin, Molly, Holly, Heather group was markedly more favorably received with call backs for interviews. Also, references were checked more often for the Ebony, Deshawn, Jerome etc. group.

An excellent study... Have you ever seen the study where they changed people's skin tone, showed the images to random people of all races and asked them who was the most trust worthy or something to that effect? Wouldn't you know the results reveled that more darker people were deemed less trustworthy than their light skinned counter parts.
I studied race and gender prior to getting a business degree; these studies are not few and far between. Anyone who denies them is dening proof of a society skewed towards an opinion of what's white is right. Don't quite understand why folks are intent on doing so? Perhaps it makes those whom automatically benefit from said system fell less bad? I dunno my white friends seem to be quite comfortable shaking their heads at the system along with me...
Cheers.
