The DC Cinematic Universe (DCCU) officially started with Man of Steel. From this point onward, DC comic book superheroes will appear in the same cinematic universe (for example, subtle evidence of the existence of Batman appeared in Man of Steel).

Talk about:

* A DCCU movie you’ve seen (try to avoid spoilers).
* Upcoming DCCU movies.
* DC movies in general (i.e., Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy; Superman: The Movie; Superman 2; Superman Returns; Batman: The Movie; The Green Lantern; etc.).
* DCCU news (you can also post links to articles, videos, etc).
* Comic-Con events (you can also post links to articles, videos, etc.).
* You can add to the thread production stills, publicity photos, etc.

Man of Steel

Upon its release, Man of Steel received mixed reviews (it has a Rotten Tomatoes composite critics rating of only 56%) and to this day a great many people hate it with a passion. The movie definitely has its shortcomings, but I'm one of the people who actually likes it (in fact, I love it, despite its many flaws). But then, I don't watch a movie like a film critic. I don't look for flaws or reasons to dislike a movie, I simply watch a movie to be entertained. I try not to begin watching a movie with preconceived notions but simply watch it on its own terms. With this mindset, I'm not as likely to be disappointed with a movie, even if it isn't very good (this is the reason that I also enjoy other widely hated DC movies, such as Green Lantern and Superman Returns).

At the box office, however, Man of Steel was a success. It raked in 668 million dollars worldwide on a 225 million dollar budget. The movie performed well enough for Warner Bros. to green light a sequel. However, Man of Steel 2 morphed into a bridge film (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) that will pave the way for the planned Justice League movie, which will function as a team up movie for multiple DC comic book superheroes (the line up will likely include as a minimum: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and possibly Green Lantern).

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Moves to March 2016 Releas

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/08/06/ ... 16-release

Quote:Warner Bros. and DC have moved Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to a March 25, 2016, release date. The film had previously been slotted to open opposite Marvel's Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016.

The news was broken on Twitter by Jeff Sneider from The Wrap. Additionally, according to Box Office Mojo, nine more untitled DC movies and two "event" films have also gotten dates. They are:
•Untitled DC Film - August 5, 2016
•Untitled DC Film - June 23, 2017
•Untitled DC Film - November 17, 2017
•Untitled DC Film - March 23, 2018
•Untitled DC Film - July 27, 2018
•Untitled WB Event Film - November 16, 2018
•Untitled DC Film - April 5, 2019
•Untitled DC Film - June 14, 2019
•Untitled DC Film - April 3, 2020
•Untitled DC Film - June 19, 2020
•Untitled WB Event Film - November 20, 2020

The Batman v Superman move by Warners obviously avoids a face-off with Marvel's increasingly seemingly unbeatable properties. It had long been assumed that either BvS or Cap 3 would move, and now we have our answer as to who blinked first. According to The Wrap, a Warner Bros. insider explained the decision as such: “Not flinching -- it's a fantastic corridor for us.” And no doubt, that is true.

But simultaneously, Warners and DC have made a statement with the reveal of this slew of untitled projects. Last June, NikkiFinke.com reported that the studio was considering announcing several dates and titles at Comic-Con. This never came to pass, and many wondered if industry pundit Finke had been given bad information, but she claimed the following were tentatively planned: Shazam, Sandman, Justice League, Wonder Woman, a Flash and Green Lantern team-up, and Man of Steel 2. All fairly logical choices, and now one must wonder if some of those titles will fit into the dates above.

The Wrap also says that Man of Steel and BvS director Zack Snyder‘s JLA movie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Sandman, a Gal Gadot Wonder Woman film, a Jason Momoa Aquaman, and a Shazam/Black Adam film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are expected to fill at least some of these slots.

As for the two Warner Bros. "event" films, the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is scheduled for Nov. 18, 2016, so don't be surprised if these are sequels to that.

What do you guys think of DC's ambitious slate of comic-book movies? Can it compete with Marvel? And how about that Batman v Superman release date change? Let's discuss in the comments!

So I guess Shazam will be out in August of 2016 and the JLA flick Summer of 2017.

Unless they're shooting Justice League back to back with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I'd be surprised if we see JL in 2017, just one year after B v S. But, if it does come out in 2017, so much the better.

Are they going to do the same thing as they do in animated movies which is pretty
much making SM/BM/JL based stories?

I am not hopeful for a Zack Snyder-directed film. Seriously, how did he fuck up Man of Steel so much acting-wise? He had Lawrence Fishburne, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russel Crowe, Michael Shannon, Kevin COstner and Diane fuckin Lane. Great actors, lousy acting.
