This is 4 bad games in a row, resulting in 3 losses in a row.

The Steelers are a bad football team right now. We may limp into the playoffs, but it would take some kind of miracle for us to do anything there. We can't stop anyone's passing game. We get sacks, but when the game is on the line we give up huge chunk plays every time.

Changes are coming this offseason. Butler is probably out, and Fichner's gonna get put on a leash. And once again, we're going heavy on defense for both the draft and free agency.

Well, we can put that Carson Wentz Hall of Fame bust back in the box and put the box back down in the basement. Cuz for the first three and a half quarters of today's game he was terrible. If it can be believed, the Eagles defense gave up almost 600 yards, yet somehow managed to keep us in the game long enough to get to overtime. Then they ran out of steam in the OT.

But from my view, this one was on the offense. And mostly on Wentz.

It amazes me how this team routinely finds Pro Bowl talent on the offensive side of the ball. (Lev, AB, Juju, Connor, the O line) yet they have trouble finding above average talent on the defensive side of the ball.

We scout offensive players very well. Receivers in particular. Did you know that in the span of 5 or so years around the millennium we drafted 3 different guys who all caught the game winner in a Super Bowl? Ward, Burress and Holmes. It also helps that we've got a Gold Jacket at QB and haven't had to address that position in earnest for 15 years.

On D tho, it's another story. Bad luck, bad scouting, and low picks. The Pats keep their D going because they trade players for pics and get mid rounders. We don't. They also play very fundamentally sound football. We try to win making "splash plays". As a result, we can't get the same production out of role players that they do. In NE it's all about "do your job" but in Pittsburgh it's about "go make a play" and that shows. It's harder to be a play making defense without huge talent. But, as Bellicheat has discovered, if you can just limit teams statistically in their favorite area (take away their number 1 and 2 options) and minimize mistakes then you can win. A lot.

We're really the only other team in the NFL that wins every year. But we can't reload like they do because our mentality is different. We coach like we've got 5 Polamalus out there when we haven't even got 1. Something's gotta give or it could cost Tomlin his job.
