Is ASMR a coping mechanism for lonliness?

Young people seem to be addicted to this ASMR fad. I'm wondering why. Most of the videos I've seen are basically pretty girls doing pillow talk softly into a microphone.

Porn has replaced real sex for a great many under 30 men. But porn does not offer intimacy, only release. ASMR is a sort of artificial intimacy for men who don't get the total experience that real sex offers. The affection, the conversation, the post sex cuddle sessions. It seems that porn, while treated like a panacea for the perceived scarcity of sex, leaves something to be desired in the psychology department.

This is just my working theory. I'd like to hear some input from members who use it, or those who've had conversations about it. And remember, The Shotgun is an old  man. I don't always understand you young folk and your techno-solutions to human problems.

These types of videos are for virgin men, the incel types. They basically watch these videos and pretend they have a girlfriend. The ASMR part is just kind of an excuse to have these kinds of videos on youtube. This is why twitch is also so popular and why so many women stream. It's the same thing only it's live. I think newer and future generations have problems with being lonely, introverted spergs that don't know how to get a girlfriend, or how act around people in general. I don't think it's just women, I think people watch youtubers a lot nowadays because they don't have friends, and youtube kind of replaces that for them.

Porn is filled with this shit too. ATKGirlfriends is basically a giant girlfriend simulator. Don't know what else to say. The movies like Her or Blade Runner 2049 kind of warn us about this shit. It's probably inevitable at this point.

This certainly jibes with my impression of it.

I don't know if I should be sad, or what, but I feel bad for these dudes that they feel so hopeless about finding a woman of their own.

i like ASMR. I discovered it about 3 years ago. it helps with insomnia and anxiety. i also listen on the plane and its kind of like audible porn. there is some rally graphic stuff out there if you look, Raceplay, incest, bondage, etc,,, almost any kink you can think of. dont knock it till you try it! Ive listened in public place and had to check my headphones to make sure what i was listening to couldnt be heard by others!

a lot of people say that ASMR helps them fall asleep nightly. i've tried listening to a few ladies on youtube and all i've gotten is too AROUSED to even think about falling asleep. LMAO! when you have headphones on, it's like a real woman is there with you, whispering, or blowing, into your ear. that is one of my hotspots and it triggers me immensely. i have no idea how that is relaxing for some folks. then again, the whispering thing is only ONE aspect of ASMR. there are so many types of them all over youtube. so people like the sounds of ASMR people chewing gum, cutting hair, roleplaying, all kinds of stuff! it's an interesting genre to say the least.

ASMR used to be fairy innocent.. but it started turning a little pornographic because of dudes requesting that the girls do more and more. on youtube, a lot of ladies kinda tow a fine line, just barely going THERE.. a lot of them have side hustles like patreon, etc. where they go FURTHER, like getting nude and more graphic.

i'm not that familiar with ASMR outside of youtube.. but i'm not surprised that the major porn companies have jumped on the popular genre.

Basically certain pitches and noises tickle your brain and feel good, I'm not a fan because it makes my spine crawl but for a lot of people the sensation feels good.
