if you like suspense/horror type films, this is one of the best i've seen. it's a french movie called À l'intérieur which means Inside.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0856288/

I found an english dub on putlocker if you want to watch it here:

http://www.firedrive.com/file/5EGX2DQ7399B

some other french horror must watches are

martyrs
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1029234/?ref_=nv_sr_1

high tension
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338095/?ref_=tt_rec_tti

Frontière(s)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0814685/

i could go on and on, foreign horror is the best horror imo

as far as foreign cinema in general, i am very particular to south korean films.

off the top of my head some of the best ones i've seen besides old boy of course are:

the chaser
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190539/

memories of murder
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0353969/

A bittersweet life
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0456912/

Mother
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1216496/

And i saved the best for last, if you dont watch any other film on this list you have to watch this one, the best korean film ive seen yet. Also starring the badass from oldboy in his best work to date

I saw the devil
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1588170/

there's many more im forgetting but these were def some of the best. the host was also awesome. and props on the City of God mention, best brazilian movie ever made imo. Actually i'd go so far as to say City of God is the one of the best 10 films ever made period. I couldn't believe all the people in the movie were really just poor kids from the favellas who got a chance to be in a movie. Incredible film.
i say gahdamn

Have you seen Battle Royale yet?

Also, only watch City of God if you're in a relatively good mood, that film is awesome but DEPRESSING

***SPOILERS***

I didn't find it depressing at all. American gangsters think they're badasses, but this is an environment where there is no law. True dog eat dog. American's know nothing of this life.

The movie is set 40 years ago, in the 70's. And shit was wild ass crazy in Brazil. Still is, kind of. But at the end, finding out it was a true story? Mind blown. Le Pequeno was a real life Scarface who rose and fell by his own evil deeds.

The film was to ironic and humorous to be depressing. I laughed for several minutes and had to stop the movie when the kid, Rocket, had to get a real job in order to buy himself a camera. The subtitle was "A suckers life". I about died.

Great film, I highly recommend.

Yeah the film has a ton of dark humour. But there were some parts that were really sobering. Seeing kids trying to escape the slums and dying or seeing Knockout Ned's life ruined because of Le Pequeno was not fun.

I've watched a ton of Brazilian movies in the last year as I consider expatriating. This one you guys will dig. It's about a man obsessed wit dat azz. Like most Brazilian movies, it's more frank about sexuality than Americans would be, and it's quirky as all hell. Brazilians love absurdity humor, so expect alot of ridiculous situations. For some reason, it's on YouTube uncut.

With all of the Korean movie recommendations, I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Chaser (2008) about the first known Korean serial killer.

Motherfucking Brazilian TV is something else. Afogando O Ganso (Drowning the goose) is a segment from Panico TV. You can't even do this on American TV.
