Retman, speaking of the Fantastic Four, do you have any hope that Josh Trank's reboot might be any good?

I thought he did a very good job with Chronicle.

One thing I love about Namor, and Retman partially pointed it out, his loyalty is to his kingdom first and EVERYTHING else second. He even joined forces with Doom when it worked out for him.

Absolutely not! Those fools at Fox try to cater to a wider audience so they stray too far from the source material. I think this flick will bomb big-time.

Marvel has discontinued the FF in comics I heard because they want the rights back from Fox so they can do justice to IMO the greatest team and stories ever written in comics.

I just noticed those pointed ears. Is Namor related to Spock?

I hear ya, bro. No one seems to have much faith in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.

What do you think of Josh casting Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch? Are you against black actors being cast to play characters that have traditionally been white? Also, there's the complication of (black) Johnny and (white) Sue Storm (Kate Mara) being siblings (but that could be explained in the film).

Unlike Aquaman who looks like a blonde white dude that's a lifeguard Namor is a half breed Human/Atlantian who's super powers come from being able to survive in both worlds. Namor ain't white he looks Asian/Pacific Islander because of his mixed lineage.

That's the whole problem with Fox! Do it right or don't do it at all! I'm all for diversity but not at the expense of the comic I grew up loving as a kid. This is exactly why this flick will fail because the hardcore types like myself will see it as something completely different from what we loved about the comic.

actually Namor is in movie rights limbo- he's not bundled with the FF or any other licensed property at the moment. Which kills me as a Namor fan- my username is his battle cry for fuck's sake...

Too bad about the movie rights limbo status, but I find this part sort of encouraging:

Quote:Marvel Studios holds ultimate control over the film rights to Namor the Sub-Mariner.

President Kevin Feige explained that, if a movie were to be released featuring the Atlantean anti-hero, it would be from Marvel.

[SNIP]

"Let's put it this way - there are entanglements that make it less easy. There are older contracts that still involve other parties that mean we need to work things out before we move forward on it.

So, I get the impression that, although difficult, it can be done. This makes me think that eventually Namor will make it to the big screen and join the MCU.

However, this really does give Warner Bros. and DC the jump on Marvel with this type of character since we'll probably see Aquaman as early as 2017 in Justice League.
