YAY FEMINISM!

Anyway, they sure spent a hell of a lot of money on this thing. Not sure the script was worth it.

Someone please explain why franchises that were built on male fan bases are continually being saddled with feminist propaganda. If women want more stories about women, make your own. Stop ruining comics and sci-fi.

I agree.

I've been a Trek fan since the late 80s( I was born in the mid 80s) , with The Next Generation. I loved DS9 and liked Voyager as well. I highly dislike JJ Abrams Trek film. The Discovery looks lame as hell. It just seems like a half assed JJ Abrams trek production. Discovery feels wrong just like Abrams Trek.

You're not a Trekkie, just a casual new age fan. This isn't a diss. Kind of like casual Star Wars fans not into The Phantom Menance and so on. But definitely not a Trekkie as you would've brought up the Original show including the movies before and after Abrams took over.

I thought so too, but I read that they decided to bump her off before she even got the word that she was going to be on Star Trek.

Seems like they wanted to keep purging the show of Black characters like they've been doing since T-Dog and she thankfully lucked up and found another job.

Damn, BAKED. That wasn't just a diatribe, that was a book.

And I cosign. I still hold out hope that Fin will mature in future movies, tho.

Ubi. Bro. You gotta stop trying to tell other people who they are. It's not a good look.

I am tired of anything involving women being branded feminism like that is a bad thing. Bad writing has nothing to do with feminism or diversity. It has to do with lack of logic like having better tech than the orignals even though it is a prequel. That is my issue along with it being on a pay service instead of free tv. They are setting it up to fail by doing that. But having a black lead makes sense. Star Trek and Star Wars have always tried to show a logically diverse universe. Not everything revolves around white people. George Lucas married a black woman afterall.

lol I never said he wasn't a fan. He's just not a Trekkie aka a diehard fan of Star Trek which is basically a loyal devouted extreme fan, supporting everything Star Trek from the books to attending conventions. There's levels to this.

You are conflating a bunch of different issues here.

1) Feminism is not about diversity. Feminism is about removing accountability from women and assigning blame to men. The movement hasn't been about equality for a very long time.

2) Race and gender aren't even on the same level with regard to diversity. Gender is real. Race is a social construct. In a military movie it makes sense to have a variety of ethinicities playing Navy Seals. Black, white, Hispanic. This reflects reality. It makes NO SENSE to have women portraying Navy Seals.

Star Trek and Star Wars were built on male fan bases. That is a fact, son. If women want science fiction that represents them why not make their own franchises? Why force feed women into male franchises? The answer is simple: it's okay for women to have their own spaces, but "immoral" for men to do the same. This is the lie and the hypocrisy of feminism. Women have the numbers, money and influence to create their own sci-fi franchises. But that's not nearly as satisfying as ruining and co-opting male franchises.

you post alot of nonsene-
point1-there are a variety of types of feminism so you can't make such broad statements.
point2-there is a thing called black women.....race is a social construct that has real life effects just like gender....it makes no sense to have a female navy seal today but if you are talking about the future when these outdated rules are gone. they weren't always black navy seals.
point3- a fact means nothing if the rest of your post is your biased opinion. the porn industry was built on a white male base but we now have ir,ebony, lesbian, gay, etc because we have a diverse audience who want to see these things including white males. you act like their aren't female scifi fans.....go to a comic con and see it for yourself.
