Star Trek Discorvery Trailer

1) Feminism is not about diversity. Feminism is about removing accountability from women and assigning blame to men. The movement hasn't been about equality for a very long time.

What the fuckity fuck? Whatever one may think of the tactics or objectives the feminist movement has adopted...it bears no resemblance to your description. You're obviously stuck in the the twitter-verse battles and fixated on some narrow scenarios where you believe men are being emasculated or held to some higher standard than previously existed.

It looks good although I don't like how the Klingons have been designed, they look like borderline racist caricatures.

TERRASTAR Wrote:point1-there are a variety of types of feminism so you can't make such broad statements.

Yes I can, and I just did. I'm speaking to the modern version of 3rd wave feminism that promotes proven lies like the Wage Gap and the 1/3 Campus Rape statistic. The brand of feminism that believes that there is a "male privilege" but no female privileged. It is a movement that claims American white women, the most spoiled, coddled, over protected, self centered and self entitled group of people in history are somehow a disadvantaged minority. Never mind the fact that they are the single largest voting block in the United States.

TERRASTAR Wrote:point2-there is a thing called black women.....race is a social construct that has real life effects just like gender....it makes no sense to have a female navy seal today but if you are talking about the future when these outdated rules are gone. they weren't always black navy seals.

There are no female Navy Seals because no females can do the job. Recruiting has been open for AN ENTIRE YEAR. Not one single female has gotten anywhere near completing BUDS. Why? For the same reason there are no females in Major League Baseball (except on feminist propaganda TV shows) or the NBA or the NFL: gender is real, and race isn't.

TERRASTAR Wrote:point3- a fact means nothing if the rest of your post is your biased opinion. the porn industry was built on a white male base but we now have ir,ebony, lesbian, gay, etc because we have a diverse audience who want to see these things including white males. you act like their aren't female scifi fans.....go to a comic con and see it for yourself.

Talk about nonsensical statements. Porn is not a franchise. It's an entire genre of film. As is sci-fi. And I SPECIFICALLY SAID women have every right to be in sci-fi, just under their own artwork. This is more like BLACKED all of a sudden putting out vanilla porn because having an IR franchise is unfair to white men. It's ridiculous on it's face, and so is running Star Wars and Star Trek into the ground for the sake of political correctness.

This is some weak ass Donald Trump response. Your shit got all blown up, and this is the best you can come up with?

You might as well just admit your whole position was indefensible bullshit. At least then you'd have some integrity.

bakajin Wrote:BAKED I skimmed your dissertation there. While I disagree with the overall premise and moaning about feminism, I think most of these shows just get it wrong. Force Awakens is a prime example. How the fuck is she going to fight like that unless she had training? What was she, the Bourne Jedi? FOH.
.

You're stepping on your own argument here. You're accusing us of "moaning" about feminism while you yourself agree that Rey was overpowered. The problem is she was made that way BECAUSE of the politics, not in spite of it. She was purposely crafted to be "better than the boys" by the female producer who took over the Star Wars franchise. I don't know if this is something you don't know or something you're choosing to ignore.

Stop ramming politics in to holes where it don't belong. Feminism is the "anal" of modern cinema. It's ugly, it's shitty, and it's only put in there to appease certain audience members. And like IR anal, it's usually quite unnecessary and often off putting to the primary audience for the film.

bakajin Wrote:Rey being overpowered is not of itself contradictory with saying someone is moaning about feminism. I can easily agree that her character's creation is a transparent attempt to create a "strong" female character, which contributes to bad writing, AND believe that you're off on feminism.

Uh, ramming politics where it doesn't belong? You do realize the Empire from A New Hope = Nazi Germany and fascism, yeah? Star Wars ain't never been apolitical. And, FWIW, ain't never not been feminist. Lil' Leia led the revolution. The original team just didn't need to make Leia a Jedi to prove a point.

Lolz. It's like you're agreeing with me, but can't bring yourself to admit that you're agreeing with me. You may not like the way I bad mouth feminism, but the gist of what I'm saying is still correct.

And feminism isn't just politics. It's an irrational belief set. Like "creation science" or the "flat earth society". Neither of which belong in these films either.

All your premises were wrong so why write a paragragh when 1 line will do. You said rape statistics and wage gap were lies. How can I deal with someone who doesn't deal with facts. Your position isn't dealing in facts.

If we accept your view, then anyone on this forum who thinks dodging is bad hates all of porn.

You're like an SJW, just holding an opposing opinion.

But that's just it, your NOT disagreeing in part. You're agreeing in whole and basically claiming you don't like what words I chose. My premise was a simple one: feminism was needlessly interjected into the Star Wars franchise for political reasons and it hurt the film. You agreed with that IN TOTAL. All you objected to was my specific use of the word "feminism."

SJWs aren't reasonable people. I am. Lodge a factual objection or refutation of my statement and I'll consider it. You've done no such thing, only complained about the language used. On the facts of the case, you've agreed. Read your own response. On the principles, you concur.

Inconvenient facts incoming:

1)
25% wage gap debunked by a liberal:

Bottom line: there may be a 3-5% unexplained gap in wages, but a mechanism of discrimination is not clearly apparent. Thus it can be attributed to sexism, but that's not nearly conclusive.

2) 1 in 4 college rape statistic debunked by liberal rag The Daily Beast

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/09/21/how-misleading-is-the-new-one-in-four-campus-rape-statistic" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2 ... -statistic</a><!-- m -->

Bottom line: when hard data like the FBI crime reports are checked, it turns out campus rape is quite rare. Many of these studies are exceedingly biased and use the criteria for "sexual misconduct" as a stand in for rape. This explodes the numbers because touching someone's arm while flirting is not rape, but can be interpreted as "sexual misconduct". Moreover, these studies are based on anecdotal claims made by women, not proven cases of sexual assault.
